Board of Directors

PHUSE is an independent, non-profit organisation registered as a not-for-profit limited company in the UK. There are currently two legal guarantors that sit on the Board of Directors. Together these people drive all aspects of PHUSE including conferences, Single Day Events, our PHUSE Community and Supporters, as well as all other training and links within the industry. This allows a structured approach to enable growth of the organisation and contribution towards PHUSE's mission of advancing the future of life sciences through the open sharing of knowledge. Sascha Ahrweiler

Communications & Brand Strategy Director

Sascha has been involved with PHUSE since 2010, having chaired the Data Handling Stream, co-chaired the Germany SDE in 2011 and supported the PHUSE Journal. In 2012, Sascha held the position of Co-Chair for the Annual Conference before assuming the role of Chair in 2012. In 2013 he joined the Board of Directors and currently acts as Communications & Brand Strategy Director.

Stephen Bamford

PHUSE Founder and Chairman of the Board

Stephen founded the PHUSE Society in 2004. 15 years on, and with significant involvement on the Board of Directors, he now holds the position of Chairman of the Board and Global Events Director.

Anne-Sophie Bekx

Education Director

Anne-Sophie was nominated to the position of Education Director in 2025. Before this, Anne-Sophie was a member of the EU Connect Committee since 2017, initially as a Poster Stream Chair and then as conference chair of the EU Connect 2024. She has also contributed to the PHUSE Working Group ‘Optimizing the Use of Data Standards’, most notably as part of the team that developed the Legacy Data Conversion Plan template.

Adrienne Bonwick

Operations Director

Adrienne has been involved with PHUSE since the first meeting and has held various positions from Communications Director to Special Projects Director. She took on the role of Operations Director in 2016.

Lynn Clipstone

Special Projects Director (EU)

Lynn has been involved with PHUSE since 2012, when she first chaired the Professional Development Stream. In 2017/2018, Lynn led the PHUSE Working Group which developed the job description for a Clinical Data Scientist. Lynn was nominated to the position of Special Projects Director in 2022.

Chris Hurley

Americas Director

Chris was nominated to the position of US Events Director in 2014 and now holds the position of Americas Director. Chris’ primary responsibility is to deliver high-quality events to advance PHUSE’s learning and networking opportunities for data scientists across the Americas.

Shereen Khwajazada

Special Projects Director (US)

Shereen has been involved with PHUSE Annual and Single Day Events since 2023. In 2024 she was appointed to the position of Special Projects Director.

Anup Patel

Technical Director

Anup was nominated to the position of Technical Director in 2014. Before becoming Technical Director, Anup had been a member of the EU Conference Committee since 2006, initially as a Stream Chair and then taking over the management of the Call for Papers system and creation of the Conference agenda.

Chris Price

Working Groups Director

Chris has been involved with PHUSE since 2008, contributing to the Conference Committee and SDEs, before chairing the 2015 Annual Conference in Vienna. Subsequently, Chris has contributed to and co-led Working Groups in both the CSS and Future Forum. Chris was nominated to the role of Working Groups Director in 2017.

Michael Rimler

Open Source Technologies Director

Michael was nominated to the position of Open Source Technologies Director in 2023. Before this post, Michael chaired an Americas SDE in 2019, chaired the US Connect Machine Learning Stream in 2019-2020, and co-led multiple PHUSE Working Group Projects. In 2023, he served as the US Connect Chair in Orlando after 2 years as US Connect Co-Chair.

John Salter

EMEA Director

John has been involved with PHUSE since 2006, firstly as Co-Chair and then as Chair of the Statistics and Pharmacokinetics Stream, before editing PHUSE News and then taking on the role of Events Director in 2009. John was nominated to the position of EMEA Director in 2016, having previously held the position of Operations Director.

Sarvesh Singh

APAC Director

Sarvesh has been associated with PHUSE since 2014. He started as Co-Chair for a Single Day Event (SDE) in 2014 and became Asia Events Director, managing events in India, China and Japan. The Board was later updated and Sarvesh was nominated as APAC Director, overseeing all PHUSE activities in the Asia Pacific region.

Community Director

Jesper has been involved with PHUSE Events and Working Groups since 2018. He was appointed to the position of Community Director in 2022.
